I loved every one of my 20 years in senior Operational and HR roles. However, I always knew that one day I wanted to become an independent business mentor, coach and facilitator. Hence in 2012, the baby that grew into Tea Break Training was born.
As someone responsible for sourcing training and development for my own people, I was often frustrated by support that looked great on paper, but didn’t really deliver on the ground. Our specialism is providing support that really works. I am proud that our clients experience change and growth that they can see. That they are able to evidence that we have given them a tangible return on their investment. That they invite us back because they know we deliver. We have the world class business education and impressive professional qualifications that you would expect from a great consultancy partner. But we have the know how and “grit” that only comes from walking the walk.
We have experience in everything from FTSE 100 corporates and multinational charities to family businesses. We have worked across many sectors – retail, hospitality, manufacturing, law and publishing to name a few. We work with both individuals and teams. And adapt what we do to suit Executives or newly appointed Apprentices and Graduates. Our down to earth approach blended with our experience and skill means we can flex our experience to support your business, whatever you do and however big or small you are.
You and your people are in safe and experienced hands. We won’t blind you with science, psychology or business speak (even though we know a lot about all of those). We’ll just help you to identify quickly and honestly what you need to do. And then help you to do it.

There have been many times in my working life when I have needed to deploy the techniques and science that form the backbone of the Tea Break philosophy. In my experience as a matrimonial solicitor and prison governor I have needed to have those courageous conversations that are so essential to great leadership. I have experienced first hand how adopting the right approach can alter bad habits/behaviours and ultimately change outcomes for the better. When working in a highly charged environment the effectiveness of what we “say” and “do” will be determined by the leg work we have already put into the relationships with our teams, therefore increasing our self awareness of these issues is key.
I understand the needs of management in the public and private sector and have also for many years sat on executive committees in the Not for Profit sector in the areas of education and domestic violence. Most recently I have used my experience to assist me as an Independent Foster panel member, however in all these areas the ability to be able to ask the difficult question remains the same. Success comes from having an understanding of the science that dictates how our brains work and how this impacts on business development. This in turn leads to better quality thinking which delivers tangible results.
